9/12/08 - Angels / Mariners - Angels Stadium - Another Good Night!

This is going to be relatively short since I don't have to much time to post

Friday began with me going to the stadium for some autographs. At the entrance to the players parking lot I was lucky enough to get Brandon Wood to sign a ball. While there we heard some of the others talking about Rod Carew being at a place in Fullerton.

So from the stadium we headed over to Roscoe's Deli in Fullerton, CA where Rex Hudler hosts a pre-game show every game day. The reason for going however was not to get a Rex Hudler autograph but to get a ROD CAREW autograph. Carew was going to be a guest of Hudler's show. Here is a pic of Carew signing one of the 2 baseballs that I got signed. If you are interested in buying one of the you can check out my store by clicking on any of the items above.

We got to the stadium just before the gates opened and a young man walked up and introduced himself as Matt (aka bloggingboutbaseball ). Matt got a little over anxious on Thursday night and upset one of the regulars. I just passed on the words so he wasn't hated up in the right field pavilion. He is definitely a good kid for sure!

The gates opened and as usual I headed out to my corner in right field. In the first 10 minutes of Angels BP, Kendry Morales hit two slow rollers down the line that I leaned over and grabbed. He then hit a screamer just behind the foul pole. I lost it as I went behind the pole and just missed catching it however it hit off the seat behind me and bounced off me and onto the ground where I picked it up. The last 10 minutes or so of the Angels was DEAD!

The Mariners took the field and of course Ichiro hit first in the first group! He didn't hit as many as the night before but he was still better than anyone else. In his last round of swings he hit a ball that was going to one hop the wall to my right. As the ball bounced I stretched out to my right and made the grab. Unfortunately this was basically the last ball that came close. The rest of BP was dead because of 2 lefties starting the game and everyone hitting right handed.

The game was pretty uneventful and once the Angels couldn't score a run in the 8th and it was still tied going to the 9th we decided to leave since there was no chance that Frankie Rodriguez would get the record breaking save.

Overall it was a pretty good night!
